WWE’s Seth Rollins, the architect of the greatest NFL Draft pick announcement in history, appeared on Good Morning Football on Thursday morning to talk a little NFL and, most importantly, about the Chicago Bears.
After the announcement that Caleb Williams and the starters will play this Sunday in the Bears’ second preseason game against Buffalo, Rollins was hyped.
The segment above followed some clips of Johnson’s press conference
on Wednesday where he spoke about overloading Williams and the offense on purpose.
“I was locked in on what he was saying, man,” Rollins said. “He overloaded Caleb Williams on purpose, because he wants to see what he’s made of, and that’s the kind of coach I need. I want somebody who’s going to push my young lion. I want somebody who’s going to make him the best version of himself.
“Because I tell you, the best version of Caleb Williams can lead the Chicago Bears, to the North championship and to the Super Bowl. They got the people in the place. It’s all hinging on this kid. I cannot wait to see what it looks like in Soldier (Field) against Buffalo this weekend. I am hyped.
“Just seeing last week against the Dolphins, seeing the backups run the Ben Johnson offense and see the speed and the pace coming out of the huddle with 20 seconds left on the play clock. Are you kidding? In Chicago? Oh my goodness. I can’t wait to see Caleb operate this offense, man. I want to see efficiency. I want to see him smooth. I want to see him on time. Let’s go.“
Rollins, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, is a longtime Bears fan who is noted for his “I hate football” tweets following Bears losses. There’s been a lot more of those tweets than the “I love football” tweets in recent years. Let’s hope that changes this season.
