Bayern Munich have had quite a few questionable jerseys over the past few seasons. In fact, one has to go back all the way to the 2020/21 season to find a shirt that satisfied all fans. The Bayern ultras
have been particularly vocal about their displeasure regarding the shirts, and have staged protests every year demanding “classic” red and white shirts.
Now, it seems the ultras have finally gotten their wish, albeit not on an official shirt.
Bayern have just released a retro “stadium collection” in collaboration with Adidas and the Südkurve. The Südkurve had put up a massive banner/tifo in the shape of a classic red shirt with a white collar and white Adidas stripes, and a Bayern logo featuring the letters E.V. (which stands for Eingetragener Verein, or registered club). Bayern used said logo until 2002.
The newly released shirt is identical to the one the Südkurve used in their tifo, albeit with a classic Adidas trefoil logo as well. Both versions are without a shirt sponsor.
The new shirt closely resembles the shirt worn by Stefan Effenberg and Co. in the 2000/01 Champions League, when they won their fourth title after defeating Valencia on penalties. It is currently available for purchase on the club website.
