Happy Friday, TSFers! I have returned from six days at Deep Creek Lake, MD (check my personal Bluesky account for a few pictures if you’d like – I took the post header image one morning) and am back at home. What vacations did y’all take this summer / fall? Did you go away for Labor Day weekend? Do you have anything planned for the next few months?
We’re in the interlull and the Arsenal men won’t be back in action until Saturday the 13th against Nottingham Forest. Fortunately, the Arsenal women start
their WSL campaign tomorrow! They take on the London City Lionesses at 8:30 am, streaming on ESPN+ in the U.S.
The NFL season is back underway — the Eagles downed the Cowboys 24-20 in a weather-delayed season opener. I don’t know about y’all, but as soon as they said on the broadcast that the earliest things would resume is after an hour break, my TV went off and I went to sleep.
The game wasn’t without excitement, though. Eagles star defensive lineman did his best Luis Suarez impression and spit on Dak Prescott. He was ejected. For those of you who missed it, Suarez spat on a Seattle Sounders assistant coach after the Leagues Cup final a week ago.
The NFL plays a game in Brazil today — Chiefs at Chargers — from Corinthians Stadium in Sao Paolo, before kicking off a full slate on Sunday. Man, I’m happy the Premier League and NFL are back. Those summer months are a bigtime sports wasteland for a non-MLB fan like me.
