Former Oregon Ducks basketball star and current NBA heel Dillon Brooks has agreed to a three-year, $73 million contract extension with the Phoenix Suns that runs through 2029-30, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
Brooks, 30, averaged a career-high 20.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1 steal per game while shooting 34.4% on 3-pointers in 56 appearances with the Suns this past season.
Phoenix acquired Brooks last summer as part of the trade package for NBA superstar Kevin Durant. Alongside his uptick
in offensive production, the 6-foot-7 forward became the Suns’ primary wing defender, helping Phoenix beat preseason expectations by posting a 45-37 record in the regular season and making the Western Conference Playoffs as the No. 8 seed. Readers of this site will know the Suns finished the regular season as the No. 7 seed, but the Portland Trail Blazers took that spot in the playoff bracket by knocking off Phoenix in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
Brooks is part of an active offseason from the Suns that revolved around keeping their core together, as Charania explained:
In addition to bringing back Brooks, the Suns signed Collin Gillespie, Mark Williams and Jordan Goodwin to multiyear contracts and also acquired Miles Bridges and Luke Kennard.

While we have you here, here’s another tidbit of NBA news: The Denver Nuggets have agreed to sign free agent guard Lonnie Walker IV to a one-year, $3.3 million deal, Charania reported. This marks an NBA return for Walker, who spent last season playing with Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv in the EuroLeague.
Walker last played in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2024-25 season, averaging 12.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in 20 appearances. He’ll be entering his eighth NBA season this fall.
