Connor Bedard is back at practice for the Chicago Blackhawks after an offseason shoulder injury. Head coach Jeff Blashill: “When a very, very young team, especially at center and ‘D’ gets their top player back, that’s a big deal for any team. This is what they told me when they got back from a recruiting trip: ‘Ajeet reminds us of Timmy Thomas.’” [NHL.com]

The Colorado Avalanche may be turning on Mackenzie Blackwood. Jared Bednar: “He needs to give us a save. He needs to give us a save at some point there. I can’t blame him for any of the goals. None. But if you’re giving up four shots in a period, and three goals, you’d like him to make a save in some of those. I’m sure he feels the same way.” [The Denver Gazette]
