Hot on the heels of Chelsea reportedly agreeing the outgoing transfer of Christopher Nkunku, we have reports of Chelsea agreeing the incoming transfer of Alejandro Garnacho. Dominos falling here in the final few days of the summer transfer window!
As expected, it’s a deal around £40m for the 21-year-old winger, which is still a decent chunk of change for a player who was getting bombed out of his previous team. But talent and promise commands big fees in today’s potential-focused market, and Garnacho’s
got all of those in heaps — if he can put it together consistently, which is always the biggest challenge for young players (and Garnacho is still very young, despite nearly 150 senior professional appearances under his belt for United).
As per The Athletic, United have retained a 10 per cent sell-on clause, even after getting Chelsea to up our bid from £25m to £40m (according to the BBC), with Garnacho set to sign a seven-year deal through 2032, by which time he will be a practically ancient 28 years old. Better start saving for retirement now!
