Barcelona captain Ronald Araujo hailed Marcus Rashford after the Manchester United loanee bagged a brace in a 2-1 win over Newcastle in the Champions League on Thursday.
Rashford opened the scoring with a header and then scored an incredible second goal as Hansi Flick’s side took all three points away from St James’ Park.
Araujo says he wasn’t surprised to see Rashford score as he does the same thing on the training ground.
“Marcus does the same thing in training. He’s a great player and has a lot of
quality,” he told Movistar.
“We know we have a very competitive team that keeps us at 100 percent. The coach manages it very well. There are games for everyone.
“We’re working very well, true to the coach’s style, which has given us results. We have to keep believing in our style of play.”
Araujo also felt it was a strong team performance and admitted it had been a tough start against Eddie Howe’s Magpies.
“We were the protagonists, we dominated the match. When they scored 2-1, it got complicated, that’s normal. The team wanted it, they played, we had the ball… I’m happy because it’s important to start the Champions League like this.”
“I was cramping at the end. The team put in a tremendous effort. We came away with the win, which is what matters.
“We analyzed this opponent very carefully and knew they would start off very strongly. There are some matchesyou have to know how to play.”
Barcelona now head home to prepare for a La Liga clash with Getafe.
