With the Arizona Cardinals season not even started the expectations couldn’t be lower.
The win total is set at a paltry 4.5, the rookie running back has seen his season rushing total move all the way down to 875.5 yards on FanDuel Sportsbook, and the guy who they want to start at quarterback (at least we think that’s who they want to start) is missing.
Things are going well.
So the question becomes, what has to happen before training camp for you to start to buy-in?
For me the simple answer is guys showing
up AND participating.
No, not the injured guys like Tip Reiman, but Jacoby Brissett and Josh Sweat being at mandatory minicamp and getting in work.
Sweat is also interesting in the sense that he has $100,000 in incentives tied to offseason workouts, and while $100,000 may seem like a drop in the bucket for a pro athlete, it is still damning to see a guy willingly give it up.
That won’t change my perception of the win total, but it will tell me that veterans that have been around the league can at least see the vision.
Maybe a core belief from the team in what they are building can help the outcome this season a little more.
