Myles Garrett was awarded Defensive Player of the Year at this year’s NFL Honors, while Carson Schweinger was given the award for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Both of these players were defensive cornerstones
for the Cleveland Browns this season, and these honors were very well deserved. Garrett received 100% of the first-place votes while Schwesinger received 40 out of the possible 50 first-place votes.

With the departure of Jim Schwartz as the defensive coordinator, the team should feel encouraged that they have these foundational pieces on that side of the ball. Regardless of who comes in to lead this group, Garrett and Schwesinger will continue to set the tone for what is expected on defense.
Great players like this can inspire the rest of the locker room. There are always conversations happening about accountability within this organization. One of the best ways to hold players accountable is to lead by example. If these two players are showing up for training camp, practice, and games with their absolute best effort, it will hold the rest of the group to that same standard.
