Having lost his starting place to new signing Milos Kerkez over the summer, it has seemed something of a foregone conclusion that Liverpool left back Andy Robertson would move on at the end of the 2025-26
season when the 31-year-old’s contract expires.
Now, though, it appears an earlier departure is possible. Though far from certain to happen, multiple sources from The Athletic’s David Ornstein to TalkSport’s Ben Jacobs are today saying that a January move to Tottenham is at least a possibility for Robertson.
With Liverpool already having lost centre half Giovanni Leoni and right back Conor Bradley to long-term injury, a departure for Robertson would leave the Reds very thin at the back, though Konstantinos Tsimikas is on loan at Roma and a recall might be possible.
The likeliest outcome, though, is that Robertson still sees out the season and his contract at Liverpool before leaving in the summer, with the player said to have a good relationship with the club and a move only possible if it’s seen as beneficial to all parties.
After manager Arne Slot put a then struggling Kerkez into the starting eleven in August rather than making the new signing prove he deserved to displace a club legend, though, it sent a strong signal to Robertson that would make an early departure understandable.
