Back in Shane Battier’s day, Duke briefly fell out of first place in the ACC and a reporter asked him how it felt to get it back. Battier said: “normal.”
That’s kind of how it feels as Duke moves back to
#1 in the high school recruiting race with the commitment of Deron Rippey Tuesday afternoon.
Saying that “[t]he main reason I chose Duke is that I see myself playing at the highest level of college basketball and making an immediate impact. I feel like Duke hasn’t seen a point guard like me in terms of athleticism and being a true point guard. Being able to go there and showcase my talent will be important for my future.”
We haven’t watched Rippey closely but we might put Jason Williams in that category, even though he shared PG duties with Chris Duhon. If Rippey is in that class though, Duke fans are in for a major treat.
