Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 5, Nashville Sounds (Brewers) 1
Recent waiver claim Carson Ragsdale continued to make a strong impression with the Tides. Ragsdale limited Nashville to only three hits over 5.1 scoreless innings. The 27-year-old struck out five and walked two.
Hudson Haskin spotted Ragsdale an early lead with a two-run homer in the second. Terrin Vavra took one for the team with the bases loaded in the sixth, and Jordyn Adams extended the lead to four with an RBI single. Vavra finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Vimael Machín drove in the fifth
run with a sacrifice fly. Machín added a pair of singles throughout the contest.
Anthony Nunez walked a pair but escaped the sixth without allowing a run. Yaramil Hiraldo tossed two scoreless frames to clinch the victory.
Double-A: Chesapeake Baysox 1, Harrisburg Senators (Nationals) 0
Douglas Hodo III broke a scoreless tie in the eighth inning with a solo home run. The blast marked Chesapeake’s only hit of the game, but it was enough to secure the victory.
Baysox starter Nestor German posted six zeros with five strikeouts and only one hit allowed. The Orioles announced after the game that German will join Norfolk for the final month of the season.
Peter Van Loon, Ryan Long, and Alex Pham all tossed scoreless innings to secure the shutout. Long notched his fifth win of the season, and Pham received credit for the save.
High-A: Wilmington Blue Rocks (Nationals) vs. Aberdeen IronBirds — PPD (Inclement Weather)
The Wilmington Blue Rocks announced that “field conditions from the rainfall and the impending forecast” led to the game being canceled. It will not be made up.
Low-A: Lynchburg Hillcats (Guardians) 2, Delmarva Shorebirds 1
Cobb Hightower tied the game at one with a solo home run in the third inning, but Bryan Bautista allowed a go-ahead single in the top of the ninth. Similar to Chesapeake, Hightower’s long ball marked the team’s only hit. Unfortunately, the Shorebirds needed a touch more offense than Hodo and the Baysox.
Brandon Downer did his part with five innings of one run ball. He surrendered four hits, walked one, and struckout three. Dylan Heid and Simon Leandro combined for three scoreless frames.
