The Miami Dolphins earned their first victory of the season by defeating the New York Jets on Sunday by a score of 28-25. Unfortunately, despite the win, they didn’t escape the clash unscathed.
On Wednesday, while speaking with the South Florida media, Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley announced that starting left guard, Kadyn Proctor, and starting cornerback, JuJu Brents, both experienced concussion symptoms earlier this week and are not practicing for Miami as of yet.
Proctor played all 65 offensive
snaps against the Jets, and even conducted a media session on Monday — something that players who are in concussion protocol are not permitted to do. Brents missed six defensive snaps on Sunday while dealing with a stinger. Hafley didn’t clarify when either player first experienced symptoms, so it is too early to tell if one or both will be cleared in time to return for this Sunday’s showdown with their AFC East division rivals, the New England Patriots.
While Proctor did not appear at Wednesday’s practice at all, Brents was apparently seen doing conditioning drills on the side — which could be an indication that he is further along in the process than Proctor currently is.
We will continue to monitor injury reports throughout the week to determine if either Dolphins player will be available this weekend.
