According to a report from Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), the rumored heat between Bayern Munich star Manuel Neuer and German national team boss Julian Nagelsmann is still an issue. In fact, for Neuer to consider
a return to the German national team, Neuer would need a private meeting with the former Bayern Munich coach to clear the air:
In order to return to the national team, Manuel Neuer has a condition. There needs to be a personal conversation with Julian Nagelsmann. The coach would have to take the first step and make it clear to Neuer that he truly wants him back and is relying on him. The relationship between Neuer and Nagelsmann has never been the best. Both worked together professionally at FC Bayern and in the national team, but never maintained a close contact.
The beef between the two men goes back to the sacking of then-Bayern Munich goalkeeper coach Toni Tapalović. Tapalović was a close confidant of Neuer and was unceremoniously let go by Nagelsmann during Neuer’s absence from the team, thanks to his ill-fated ski trip, which resulted in a broken leg. Tapalović was thought to be leaking information from the coaching staff.
Neuer took that news hard and his relationship with Nagelsmann was rumored to be strained from that point forward.
Bayern Munich might be off, but the news cycle surrounding the club is red-hot.
There are some big items to discuss, so let’s not waste any time. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
- Did Harry Kane throw some cold water on the thoughts of a contract extension with Bayern Munich? As it turns out, the Bavarians might not want to pay him anyway.
- Is Max Eberl in line for a promotion with Bayern Munich? Would it be too much for him to take on.
- Hot or Not? Harkening back to some nonsense from the beginning of the internet, let’s determine an early prediction on which Bayern Munich players will be back for 2026/27.
