2025 was a good year for Germany fans all around, with goals coming from both the men and women’s teams. There were a lot of goals to choose from, but this writer managed to narrow them down to the best ten. Here we go!
10. Serge Gnabry vs Slovakia

We kick things off with this rather typical goal, which admittedly was not anything special. Aleksandar Pavlović passed to Leon Goretzka, who then threaded it to Serge Gnabry, who made no mistake
from close range. A goal that really didn’t mean too much in the grand scheme of things, but this writer included it because of the Bayern Munich connection.
9. Leroy Sané vs Slovakia

The next entry on the list is the goal that directly followed the previous one. Florian Wirtz had the ball deep in midfield and launched it long upfield, finding Leroy Sané, who kept the ball down after a well-timed run, and finished it with the deftest of touches. A goal that seemed simple, but signified the ruthless efficiency that had defined German football for so long.
8. Assan Ouédraogo vs Slovakia

How is it that the first three goals all came from the same game? Well, this last one was the cream of the crop. RB Leipzig’s Assan Ouédraogo was making his first appearance for the national team, and he capped it off in style with a wonderful goal. The finish was good, yes, but the rapid exchange of passes between Ouédraogo, Sané, Felix Nmecha, and Nick Woltemade that ended in the finish was even better.
7. Laura Freigang vs Scotland

Starting this year, we’re including Frauen goals as well! First on the list is from Eintracht Frankfurt’s Laura Freigang. Germany were surprisingly a goal down at halftime at home to Scotland, but it did not take them too long to answer with four goals. The fifth duly arrived in the 67 minute, when Jule Brand whipped in a low ball that Freigang finished with a deft little backheel that crept into the far post. Germany then added a sixth less than ten minutes later to complete their big win.
6. Florian Wirtz vs Northern Ireland

Germany’s road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup was quite rocky at first. Reeling from a shock defeat against Slovakia, the DFB-Team needed a response against Northern Ireland. While they did not look entirely impressive, they did manage to get a 2-1 lead, and Florian Wirtz stepped up to seal the win with a stunning free kick from the edge of the area. It was a moment of truth for the youngster, who has been having a less than ideal start to life in Merseyside.
5. David Raum vs Luxembourg

Germany’s 4-0 win over Luxembourg was nothing special given the gulf of quality between the two sides. However, it did open quite spectacularly when David Raum struck a marvelous free kick over the wall and right into the bottom corner. The goal marked his first ever international goal, and may have just sealed his ticket as Germany’s starting right back at next year’s World Cup.
4. Jule Brand vs Poland

Germany went into the Euros with high expectations, and they opened their Euros account in style. About ten minutes after halftime, OL Lyonnes midfielder Jule Brand cut in from the right-hand side and let loose a left-footed thunderbolt from outside the box right into the top corner. A certain Arjen Robben may come to mind. It was Germany’s first goal of the tournament, and easily the best they scored throughout the campaign. The goal set the pace for a routine 2-0 win over the Poles, although the game was marred by captain Giulia Gwinn’s injury.
3. Sydney Lohmann vs Austria

Germany had already booked their ticket to the Nations League finals with their 4-0 win over the Netherlands, so their final match against Austria had little to offer in terms of importance. However, that did not stop them from walking all over their neighbors. Bayern Munich alum Sydney Lohmann stood out in particular, first opening the scoring after only 14 seconds, before making it five with the goal that made this list – an absolute stunner from roughly 30 meters out. Swerving and dipping beyond the keeper’s reach, this was the best goal from Germany’s Nations League campaign…until the next entry on this list.
2. Klara Bühl vs France

Germany met France again after their memorable clash at the Euros (more on that in a few days), this time in the Nations League semifinals. For those of you who don’t know, the women’s Nations League semifinals and final are all two-legged affairs, at least in this edition, and the goal in question came in the first leg in Düsseldorf. The two sides were locked in a goalless draw as the end of the game crept closer, and it looked like the second leg would determine the winner, but Klara Bühl had other ideas. The Bayern Munich superstar cut in from the left side and arrowed a powerful shot that bounced right past the keeper from outside the box. Since the second leg ended 2-2, Bühl’s goal ended up being the goal that sent Germany to the final.
1. Jamal Musiala vs Italy

Goal Scored: 2-0, FT: 3-3
Germany were looking to advance to their first ever Nations League Finals, but who should stand in their way other than arch-rivals Italy? However, Germany made little work of the Italians and played some of the best football they had under Julian Nagelsmann. One of the goals stood out in particular – Germany won a corner, and while the Italian players were getting settled, Joshua Kimmich took the corner quickly for Jamal Musiala to put into the empty net right under their noses. Truly a “corner taken quickly” moment for the fans to savor. Cheeky, sneaky, yet effective. The goal ended up meaning a lot, as Germany surrendered their 3-0 lead to draw 3-3, but their first leg result meant Germany were going to the finals.
