Devin Booker is looking to add a star teammate; but not to the Suns. Since becoming a sneaker free agent last month after more than a decade with Under Armour, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry
has been seen wearing many types of basketball shoes.
For Thursday’s matchup against the Suns, he wore multiple versions of Devin Booker’s Nike Book 1s in pregame and during the game.
Booker and Curry were the starting backcourt for Team USA’s Gold Medal Team in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The two got to spend extended time with each other throughout the 2024 Summer and build a relationship on and off the court that Booker mentioned when asked about Curry wearing his shoes against him. Booker said he thought he’d be the one competing against him wearing Curry’s shoes rather than what happened.
After it was announced he was leaving Under Armour, Curry reached out to Booker to get a few pairs of his signature shoes. Booker is trying to do what he can to get the NBA’s All-Time Three-Point leader to join Nike alongside him, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and many other NBA stars.
Curry autographed a pair of one of the Book 1s that he wore for Booker, referencing their time together on the Olympic team in his note. When asked about wearing Booker’s shoes after the game, Curry said he was trying to beat him while wearing his own shoes.
Curry had one of his worst nights of the season in the Book 1s, scoring 15 points on 3/13 shooting from the field and 2/9 from three as the Suns beat the Warriors 99-98 on Thursday behind Booker’s 25 points. The two will face off again at 6:30 tonight in Golden State. Will Curry be wearing Booker’s shoes again?
