One underrated area of need that the Cincinnati Bengals are getting a bit exposed on is depth at the running back position. Chase Brown and Samaje Perine or good at what they do, but what the team really needs is a running back who can go out there and get that tough yard or two when needed.
It just so happens that one has been made available by the Washington Commanders:
The Washington Commanders shockingly cut rookie running back Kaytron Allen, a sixth-round pick, while juggling the roster around
to fit players returning from injury. That move exposes Allen to waivers, where the Bengals would be wise to have an interest.
Right now defenses aren’t really respecting the running game in those short yardage situations, and Cincinnati hasn’t given them reason to need to. However, even just having the threat of being able to do that can open up more possibilities for Joe Burrow and the offense while also taking pressure off the passing game. It is a fairly low risk move that they should consider.

Quick Hits | Bengals Working Through Injuries; (Jordan) Battle Of Miami; The King And I
It looks like Jordan Battle will get another opportunity to start by default against Miami as Kyle Dugger has yet to even practice since getting hurt in Week 3. Bryan Cook was at least limited Thursday, so maybe he can make a return.
Bengals’ Jordan Battle reveals subtle Malik Willis tell ahead of Week 5 matchup against Dolphins
There are people who are saying this isn’t a big deal and others talking about how dumb it is. At this point, I would just love to see him make a tackle on 3rd-&-very long to get off the field rather than whiffing in the most comedic way possible. Battle would be a totally acceptable safety if he could just make these tackles that he has unfortunately made a habit of missing.
Ja’Marr Chase returns to practice for Bengals
It is a fairly significant step in the concussion protocol to get back on the field. It certainly doesn’t mean Chase will be able to get through the protocol in time for Sunday’s game, but it makes it far more likely than it seemed on Monday.

Jerry Jones ‘extraordinarily disappointed’ after Cowboys loss to Buccaneers
This is exactly the result the Bengals need to avoid. Hopefully this prime time loss can serve as a warning to this team to not come out flat against a winless team on Sunday. Instead, come out and put it away early.
NFL Week 5 bold predictions: Jahmyr Gibbs breaks Barry Sanders’ record; ‘Hawks punish Brock Purdy
One is Marvin Harrison Jr. coming back to life against the Lions’ defense, which seems like an easy one to hammer home. The Lions are dealing with exactly what Cincinnati was last season. Every level of the defense is failing.
Ravens preparing two game plans with Lamar Jackson’s status vs. Falcons up in the air
It sounds like there is a very real possibility the Ravens are without Jackson, which would be a huge test for this new coaching staff. The team has traditionally struggled without him, which obviously is a huge hurdle for any team without their starting quarterback. It is an opportunity to show if things could be any different.
