This is the one we’ve been waiting for.
Bayern Munich takes on defending reigning UEFA Women’s Champions League winner Arsenal in a hotly-anticipated showdown at the Allianz Arena.
The Bavarians are enjoying
a six-point cushion at the top of the Frauen-Bundesliga and coming off a string of impressive domestic victories — 4-0 over Union Berlin, 6-0 over Nürnberg, 4-1 over SGS Essen, 5-1 over Köln. And before that was a 2-1 UWCL win over Juventus.
Arsenal sits fourth in the Women’s Super League.
Both teams are 1-0-1 in the UWCL so far this year. Arsenal lost 2-1 to Lyon at home in October while Bayern were blown away by Barcelona, 7-1, on the same day, in Spain. That was then. This is now.
Prediction: Bayern wins 3-2. Too much is riding on this and the ladies are in fantastic form. It won’t be easy but they have been saving up and the humiliation from Barça is going to be motivation to be at their very best.
It’s Bayern time.
