It’s Sunday once again, and you know what that means — it’s time for our weekly social media roundup! The Yankees continued their gauntlet stretch this week, dropping two of three against the Detroit Tigers in ugly fashion before rounding out this 12-game sprint with three in Fenway. Off the field, though, it was a week of whirling emotions, as the Yankees bid welcome back to old friends and happy trails to others, raised money for their favorite charitable organizations, honored those who have been
active in their community, and remembered those who lost their lives 24 years ago this past Thursday. With so much to cover, let’s get started!
A Week of Service
Taking advantage of Monday’s off-day, the Carlos Rodón Foundation held their annual Willow Gala, raising money to help couples deal with fertility and pregnancy loss. Much of the Yankees’ squad was in attendance, including (but not limited to) Max “Uncle Max” Fried, Cody Bellinger, Anthony Volpe, Austin Wells, Luke Weaver, Ben Rice, Aaron Judge, Austin Slater, and, uh, I think that’s Trent Grisham, but I don’t recall the last time I saw him smiling so I can’t be 100% certain.
The Willow Gala was not the only event on Monday, however. CC Sabathia’s LegaCCy Gala was also that day, where injured Yankees ace Gerrit Cole was honored, along with his wife Amy. Following that Gala, the pair raced over to Rodón’s event. Oh, and it was also Cole’s 35th birthday. What a way to celebrate!
Meanwhile, Aaron Judge’s All Rise Foundation held their 9/9 for 99 auction this week, in conjunction with the YES Network.
And the Rizzo Family Foundation took to social media to spread the word that September is pediatric cancer awareness month, as they continue to support children and their families as they fight pediatric cancer.
Joe Torre Goes Bananas
The Savannah Bananas brought their show to a sold-out Yankee Stadium last night, and as is often the case with their MLB ballpark visits, they had a special guest tied to the local team. For the Yanks, former skipper Joe Torre came to the game and entered the field, decked out in the full yellow of the Bananas uniform. Awesome stuff.
Welcome Back, Gleyber
This past Tuesday, former Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres made his return to the Bronx as a member of the Detroit Tigers. The Yankees faithful gave him a standing ovation in his first plate appearance, the Bleacher Creatures chanted his name during roll call, and the team played the following tribute video on the scoreboard.
Following the game, Torres took to social media to thank the fans for their immense show of support.

Even Trenton Thunder batdog Rookie shouted out the former top prospect on his social media page.
Happy Retirement, Anthony
Former Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo announced his retirement from Major League Baseball this past Wednesday; he was honored yesterday in a pregame ceremony at Wrigley Field by the Chicago Cubs, with whom he won a World Series and broke the curse.

Good to see you, Lucas!
Former Yankees lefty Lucas Luetge took his family to see the Yankees when they were on the road last week, showing his kids where he used to work.
Little League Success
Prior to Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers, the Yankees honored the Fairfield Little League team for their performance in the Little League World Series. Will one of these kids become the next Todd Frazier? We’ll find out in the next, oh, 15-20 years.
Judge’s Victory Reel
How do you know a late-season series was important? When Aaron Judge posts one of his victory Instagram reels — because usually, he lets these posts go by the wayside after two or three weeks in April, because usually he has more important things to do than post on social media.
Never Forget
The Yankees took to social media on Thursday to remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
