VfB Stuttgart had Bayern Munich on the ropes with an intense first half, but the second that FC Bayern saw an opening, it capitalized and landed a knockout blow on Die Schwaben.
Harry Kane erupted for three second half goals to power his team to a 3-0 victory over VfB Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal finale and his colleagues over at VfB Stuttgart, Deniz Undav and Ermedin Demirović, could only watch in amazement.
“We all wanted to win, but we didn’t manage it. Nevertheless, we can be proud of what a brutal
season we’ve had. We wanted to make it ugly. But then you can’t leave Harry Kane alone; he puts those things away ice-cold. We kept up for a long time. We managed to cause Bayern problems for long enough. There are worse things than losing to Bayern. We were the complete underdog,” said Undav (as captured by FCBayern.com).
Meanwhile, Demirović just said that falling behind and trying to chase Bayern Munich was never really going to work.
“We played a fantastic game, made it extremely difficult for Bayern today, and felt like we were keeping everyone at bay. Harry Kane was outstanding. It hurts terribly; we gave it our all. In the end, we can’t blame ourselves. We had our moments. Then they scored the 1-0 from a completely unforced error. Then it became difficult because they got on a run and we had to chase the game. In my opinion, the final score is too harsh,” Demirović stated.
