NCAA Indoor Weight Throw Results
Leading the way for Mizzou, Innes secured a sixth-place finish in the men’s weight throw during the championship meet, recording a season-best mark of 22.70. His dedication throughout the indoor season paid off as he showed up for Mizzou and put on an impressive outing for the crowd.
“He has progressed so well that now he’s one of the best in the country,
yeah, and that’s really a large testament to Sam. I’m mindset, ability as an athlete, but also Weir’s coaching,” assistant distance coach Tanner Anderson said before the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Competing against Innes was Ryan Johnson from Iowa State, who won the overall event with a throw of 25.64m and claimed a new meet and faculty record. In February this year, he broke the collegiate record with a throw of 25.66m.
With lots of top athletes for the University of Oregon, Penn State, the University of Illinois and Yale University, this championship meet is filled with loads of talent.
