(74-56) Durham Bulls @ (58-74) Gwinnett Stripers – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
DUR: TBD
GWI: Jhancarlos Lara (0-2, 4.83 ERA)
The Stripers continue their series against the Durham Bulls tonight, following their loss to them on their Labor Day game. They turn to Jhancarlos Lara who is getting more work in on his improved two seamer as Lara continues to build his case for a Major League roster spot. His last outing was on August 28th where he pitched 2.2 innings, 2 innings of which is cruised. After speaking with someone close to the team, it’s safe to assume that
the team values Lara as a reliever, but with his arm strength, he can work multiple innings and refine his repertoire.
The Stripers offense is much improved since the promotion of David McCabe, acquisition of Jesùs Bastidas, and the return of Luke Waddell. They were held to just five hits on Monday so look for the good guys to swing, and swing early as they await their opponent.
(72-55) Montgomery Biscuits @ (55-69) Columbus Clingstones – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
MON: Brody Hopkins (5-7, 2.80 ERA)
COL: Drue Hackenberg (2-6, 6.96 ERA)
Drue Hackenberg’s work to rebound from a disastrous season continues as the Clingstones host the Biscuits. Drue has struggled with his mechanics, and command, which has resulted in extremely rough numbers. That being said, he’s looked much improved since the start of August. In five starts, Drue didn’t give up more than three earned runs in a single outing, and while the walk numbers aren’t great, he’s not giving up as many hits and is generating more whiffs. His last start against Montgomery came back on August 2nd (4IP 4H 3ER 1BB 2K).
(55-68) Rome Emperors @ (63-63) Hub City Spartanburgers – 6:35 PM ET
Pitching Probables
ROM: Luke Sinnard (2-3, 4.03 ERA)
HUC: Aidan Curry (3-2, 4.25 ERA)
Following last night’s win, Rome turn to Luke Sinnard as they look to win game 2 of the series after being throttled 11-3. Luke has had a strong 2024 season, absolutely dominating in Augusta before taking some time but now adjusting nicely to Rome. Luke’s last time out was against the Winston-Salem Dash on August 27th, where he performed admirably (6IP 5H 2r 1ER 3BB 7K).
Rome will be looking for a bit more offense compared to yesterday where they went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position despite the win. It’s been a while since we’ve been able to say this, but the Rome offense is a bit intriguing with quite a few players to watch.
(61-66) Kannapolis Cannon Ballers @ (65-59) Augusta GreenJackets
Pitching Probables
KAN: TBD
AUG: Ethan Bagwell (1-3, 2.35 ERA)
Ethan Bagwell continues his return to the mound as the GreenJackets host the Cannon Ballers. The 19 year old has had a fantastic season, by all accounts, since his return from injury – in his age 19 season. Especially impressive is the teenagers ability to pitch efficiently enough to get 5-6 innings a start. Ethan’s last start out was back on August 26th against the Charleston RiverDogs where he gave up just two earned runs over five innings of work and just three hits.
After collecting six runs on 12 hits on Monday, it’s safe to say the GreenJackets will be looking for a repeat performance from their offense today. John Gil, Tate Southisene, Owen Carey, Dixon Williams, Eric Hartman, and Juan Mateo give the GreenJackets a ton of weapons.
