NXT will hold its next premium live event, Deadline, on Sat., Dec. 6, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. It’s a noteworthy event not just for being the final PLE of the year for the developmental brand — and, actually, all of WWE — but because it will feature the return of the Iron Survivor Challenge matches.
And this time they’ve found a new way to make it interesting.
During this week’s episode of NXT television, General Manager Ava announced that the way the field is chosen will change this year. In the past, multiple folks have been involved in the process but this time, only one man will decide who makes it into both the men’s and women’s matches.
John Cena.
Said matches will take place just one week before Cena’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington D.C. He’s not scheduled to make any extra appearances, so he will either reveal the participants in a pre-taped video or simply get the credit for making the decisions.
Either way, it’s an interesting wrinkle for this year’s matches.
