Harry Kane is closing in on a longer stay at Bayern Munich, it would seem.
The England captain and former Tottenham Hotspur star is enjoying a sensational season for the German Rekordmeister
. While it has always been speculated that he would make his way back to the Premier League and chase Alan Shearer’s goal-scoring record, Kane has goals to chase at Bayern as well — a Champions League trophy among them. And he appears to be set on zooming right by the nearest off-ramp.
From Sport Bild journalists
Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Harry Kane has decided that he won’t make use of his release clause for next summer, which expires at the end of January. For the striker, winning other trophies at FC Bayern is more important than a return to England in order to break the Premier League goal scoring record. As for the Barcelona links, a potential move was never seriously discussed. Bayern are planning to approach Kane over a new contract after the release clause expires. Meanwhile, Kane can even imagine delaying the talks until after the World Cup. His current contract runs until 2027. Both the club and the player are open to a one-year renewal until 2028 [@altobelli13, @cfbayern]
Kane has been hinting at a longer stay in Bavaria for a while and seems incredibly happy to be playing under Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany. Here’s to more years, more goals, and more trophies together.
