It has been assumed for months that Bayern Munich and Harry Kane would have a relatively easy negotiation and agree on a contract extension.
There were some whispers of differences between the two parties last month, but Kane dispelled the notion by saying he would not talk about a contract until after the World Cup.
Problem solved, right?
Maybe not.
According to a report from Kicker journalist Georg Holzner, there are “some differences” between Kane and Bayern Munich on the specifics of a new deal,
though, that does not mean his exit is imminent:
Caution is advised this summer because Harry Kane and Michael Olise, the two sporting leaders of the past season, have – unsurprisingly – attracted the attention of international rivals. This can certainly be seen as a compliment and the highest appreciation of their performances last season. It has been a long time since Bayern’s top players were among the most sought-after professionals in world football.
Financially powerful clubs are monitoring the situation surrounding the England captain. If Kane hasn’t extended his contract with the German record champions, which expires in 2027, by the start of the World Cup, they are hoping to sign him. According to Kicker, there were recently some differences between Kane and Bayern regarding the terms and duration of a new contract.
It’s not out of the question that lucrative offers will arrive for the top scorer during or after the World Cup – when he enters the final year of his contract. Initial interest has already been expressed to his management. However, since Bayern Munich’s number 9 didn’t activate his release clause in the winter, the club holds the upper hand.
This is not the first time we have heard about a potential roadblock between the parties, but, for now, there is not much to worry about for fans as there will be plenty of time to get a deal done after the World Cup. However, there is always the threat of other clubs attempting to offer a mega-contract to the Englishman. Whether or not that happens, remains to be seen, but the second that Kane is back in camp with the Bavarians, you can bet that the full focus of nearly everyone will be on the striker and his contract situation.
