It seemed like LSU was starting out a little behind in this recruiting class, but what a difference a week can make.
The Tigers have landed yet another commitment coming off the second weekend of official visits. This time, it is wide receiver Cade Cooper.
Cooper is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver from Grant Valley, Pennsylvania, who has consistently proven to be a red-zone threat. He possesses strong hands and excels at winning jump-ball situations thanks to his timing, body control, and leaping
ability.
Cooper is ranked as a top-25 receiver in the 2027 class and a top-150 player nationally according to Rivals.
What makes this commitment even more impressive is how quickly LSU was able to close the deal.
Cooper was a late addition to the Tigers’ recruiting board. Earlier this spring, Ole Miss appeared to be in the driver’s seat to land Cooper’s commitment. At that point, LSU had not even offered him a scholarship. According to Shea Dixon of On3, the Tigers did not extend an offer until May 6.
Since then, wide receivers coach George McDonald has gone to Pennsylvania, built a strong relationship with Cooper, and ultimately got him to Baton Rouge for an official visit this past weekend.
The visit clearly paid off.
Cooper now joins Braylon Calais and Ah’mari Stevens, giving LSU three wide receiver commitments in the 2027 class.
This commitment is significant because LSU was able to pull Cooper away from an SEC rival in Ole Miss. It is also impressive considering how quickly the Tigers were able to identify him as a priority, extend an offer, get him on campus, and ultimately secure his commitment.
This is a great example of what many around the program have been calling “Just Different.”
The Lane Train is full steam ahead.
