Football:
If Florida State wins three of its next five it will go back to a bowl game for the first time since 2023. Looking at the rest of the schedule they’re likely to be favored in four of their next five games including Clemson this weekend. If this were to come to fruition CBSSports has FSU spending Bowl season in Puerto Rico in the inaugural edition of the San Juan Bowl.
The Seminoles continue to fight for Mike Norvell despite job pressure you can almost feel it’s so intense. After last week’s disputed
loss at Miami ended on a controversial Hail Mary that was ruled an interception, Florida State used its open date to focus on fixing defense issues before its home bout with Clemson on Halloween in Tallahassee. Win that one and the Seminoles move to 4-4 overall, needing two more wins to reach bowl eligibility.
The second half of the schedule was always considered easier than the first half but recent events have it looking even easier than anticipated in the preseason. Boston College is exceeding expectations but FSU should still be favored on the road, Pitt lost its quarterback and hasn’t looked the same since while NC State just did what many FSU fans want its current leadership to do; which is fire the head coach. USA Today is reporting that FSU’s leadership is beginning to feel the heat
As one person with knowledge of the situation in Tallahassee told USA TODAY Sports this week: “The FSU president (Richard McCullough) and board of trustees now are starting to get heat about the football program, and they don’t like that — nor are they used to getting heat in those positions.”
When you fire the Athletic Director there’s no one left to shield you from the raising temperatures around you; the ball is in FSU’s court.
Speaking of Boston College; it will be a noon start in Chestnut Hill:
There’s no better way to celebrate rivalry week than with a man who destroyed the Clemson Tigers during his time in Tallahassee, Peter Warrick:
All Sports:
Exhibitions are officially over and Men’s and Women’s Hoops officially tip-off next Monday. Men’s Hoops preseason projection is 7th in the ACC; while the Women have been projected to finish 14th.
I expect both squads, especially the Women’s team, to outplay their preseason projections. I am very bullish on Florida State Hoops this winter.
FSU Soccer suffered its first conference defeat over the weekend vs. 17th-ranked Notre Dame; they’ll have a chance to get back in the W column vs. 11th-ranked Duke this Thursday:
Halloween weekend will be full of garnet and gold:
