Bianca Belair shared an unfortunate update on social media about a new health issue that could affect her in-ring comeback.
The EST has not wrestled since WrestleMania 41 due to a lingering finger injury, as well as a pregnancy that resulted in the birth of a son earlier this month. Now, though, she has disclosed that she’s battling carpal tunnel syndrome, and it’s causing numbness in both her hands.
“No one ever talks about this stuff… currently carpal tunnel in both hands… fingers completely numb,
no feeling in surgery finger whatsoever, no grip strength, and now also Mom thumb…wtf lol,” Belair wrote on Instagram.
According to the Mayo Clinic, carpal tunnel syndrome “is caused by pressure on the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway in the wrist. It is on the palm side of the hand.
“When the median nerve becomes compressed in the carpal tunnel, symptoms can include numbness, tingling and weakness in the fingers and hand,” the medical center states on its website. “Wrist structure, health conditions and repeated hand motions may play a part in carpal tunnel syndrome.”
Despite the concerning issues caused by the condition, the Mayo Clinic notes “proper treatment often lessens the tingling and numbness and restores hand function.”
The former WWE Women’s World Champion suffered an injury involving her knuckle during a triple threat match against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY for the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 41.
In February of this year, Bianca announced she was set to undergo finger surgery and would thus need further rehabilitation. She would then go on to surprise fans with an appearance at WrestleMania 42. But after she made her way to the ring in Las Vegas following John Cena’s introduction, Bianca didn’t announce she was returning to wrestling but instead revealed her pregnant stomach.
On August 4, Bianca shared photos on social media of the newborn son she shares with fellow WWE star Montez Ford. She introduced the new addition to their family as Romeo Leonardo Allen Crawford.
As for the latest health setback, a number of different activities could have led to Belair getting carpal tunnel syndrome. Weightlifting, repetitive hand and arm motions from her time in college sports, and wrestling (of course) could have contributed.
Another activity that could have at least partially caused the condition is sewing. In 2023, Belair spoke with GQ about how she makes her own ring gear, as well as gear for other wrestlers.
Whatever the cause, we at Cageside Seats wish Belair all the best in her treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome as well as for the continued healing of her injured finger.
Please share your best wishes and/or thoughts about Bianca’s latest health news in the comments.
