Good morning, baseball fans!
Tonight is the inaugural draft for the Women’s Professional Baseball League! So I just wanted to share all the details again so people can follow along if they want to.
The draft
will begin at 5:00 p.m. PT and consist of six rounds, with each team drafting five players per round. The order was determined via a random draw, which saw San Francisco receiving the first pick, which is very exciting!
The draft order will be San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and then Boston. After that, they will proceed in the snake format, with the order reversing after each team has made their pick.
Fans who would like to follow the draft live can do so on the WPBL’s TikTok, Instagram and YouTube accounts. You can also follow updates on their website if you can’t watch live.
There are a lot of excellent players in the inaugural draft, but you only get the first pick ever once. So whoever San Francisco picks is likely to be who they will build the team around and will end up being the first ever face of the franchise.
I have decided that I am hoping they go for Mo’Ne Davis. I think she already has the name recognition and obvious talent to really put them on the map in their first season.
Who are you hoping San Francisco drafts first?
