In this week’s reacts poll, we asked readers if they thought that the Saints will defeat the Steelers in Paris?
60% of voters said yes, the Saints will get an overseas victory in the first ever NFL game played in France.
If they can indeed defeat the Steelers on Sunday, it could prove to be a turning point in their season. More importantly, it would give New Orleans something it has struggled to establish this year: momentum.
A victory on the international stage would not erase the Saints’ early-season
struggles, but it would show that the team is beginning to respond to adversity and build on its recent progress. With increased scrutiny surrounding the players and coaching staff, a second consecutive win would send a message that New Orleans is not ready to write off its season. For head coach Kellen Moore, a win would also provide a much-needed boost in confidence and reinforce the belief that his team is moving in the right direction. The challenge, however, would be proving that this improvement is sustainable rather than another brief bright spot in an otherwise inconsistent season.
A win would improve the Saints to 3-4 heading into their Week 8 bye, giving them an opportunity to regroup before returning home for two consecutive games. It would also mark their first back-to-back victories of the season.
