Bayern wants Karl deal done before World Cup (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Bayern Munich is aiming to get a deal done with Lennart Karl prior to the summer’s World Cup:
✅ It is TRUE: Bayern want to offer Lennart Karl a contract extension before the World Cup. His current terms will automatically extend on his birthday (February 22) when he turns 18. He’ll get another year added to his contract, taking it to the summer of 2029 (at the moment it’s until 2028). Bayern Munich, however, want to give him a deal until 2031! They want to start negotiations, and they’ve already talked
with the agent, Michael Ballack, but at the moment, it seems things won’t kick off until his birthday.
They’re really keen on making this deal before the World Cup, because they know at the competition – they hope, and I hope, he’ll get selected for Germany at the tournament – he’ll get really expensive. As we’ve seen against PSV, he’s got a really good relationship with Jamal Musiala. If he can take that to the national team, it’s only going to see his potential transfer value soar through the roof.
Karl has hit a rough patch of late and has not looked his best. Hopefully the kid can rebound soon and get back to that excellent form he had in the Hinrunde.
LFC was interested in Upamecano (Sky Germany)
Before Bayern Munich center-back Dayot Upamecano reportedly agreed to accept Bayern Munich’s terms, Liverpool had interest in the Frenchman. However, the English power — unlike Paris Saint-Germain — thought Upamecano’s demands were too crazy:
Liverpool are interested in centre-back Dayot Upamecano, who is stalling on signing a new contract at Bayern Munich, says Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
“Everyone is waiting for his commitment, his signature. His contract is ready. But Bayern Munich will not improve their offer,” Plettenberg told Sky Sports News.
“Upamecano can sign it, [taking him until] 2030 or 2031. There’s a release clause included from the summer of 2027. He can earn 20m Euros gross per year and receive a big signing feed, together with his agent.
“But Bayern is waiting for weeks, they want a decision soon.
“But my opinion is he’s waiting for Liverpool, for Real Madrid.
“Liverpool is interested in Upamecano, we can confirm that.”
Sterling offered to…Union Berlin? (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Where is BFW community member “Jamespeter”? Remember when we were joking about Raheem Sterling going to a midtable Bundesliga team? Haha…well, it seems like Union Berlin had the chance to bring him in, but just ignored it:
Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger had some financial details, which likely impacted why Union Berlin did not seriously consider the move:
Completely crazy #DeadlineDay story: Top star Raheem Sterling was offered to Union Berlin. “Sometimes you really have to rub your eyes,” Horst Heldt told @L_deRuiter about it.
The topic was not pursued further for various reasons. Sterling was earning around €1.5m per month at Chelsea recently. @SkySportDE

United keeping close eye on Eintracht’s Brown (ESPN)
Manchester United reportedly has its eyes on Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown:
Manchester United sent scouts to watch Eintracht Frankfurt left back Nathaniel Brown during the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday, says TEAMtalk. Brown, 22, has been on the radar of Arsenal and Manchester City in recent months but United have now entered the race and are preparing a £40 million offer to sign the Germany international. Now that Ruben Amorim’s back three has been dispensed with, United are keen to sign a regular fullback, rather than a wingback.
