According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Heiko Niedderer (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich has a strategy in place for how it wants to approach convincing Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon to join the club and how to streamline acquiring him:
Bayern’s plan for Anthony Gordon is first to negotiate with the player and reach an agreement until he clearly commits to the club and says ‘I only want Bayern’ – so that they will be in a good negotiating position
with Newcastle to drive the price down. Bayern have no intention to go near the prices currently being quoted by English sources (~ £75m).
While a sound strategy in theory, it might be hard to make Bavaria the only destination for the Englishman, who is also attracting a lot of attention from Arsenal and Liverpool. At this stage, though, it would seem insane to count Bayern Munich out of the race.
The Bavarians could be an ideal destination for a player entering his prime like Gordon. A top team, who can offer a good salary package, the allure of trophies, and a familiar face in Harry Kane could be the prime destination for an ambitious scorer like Gordon.
The versatile 25-year-old’s high-intensity style of play fits in perfectly to what Vincent Kompany wants from his attacking players. Gordon has great speed, is intelligent with his off-the-ball movement, and is relentless with pressing. The number to get him might not be ideal, but it might be worth it in terms of fit and potential.
Song of the Week: “12:51” by The Strokes
The Strokes had a moment and you know what? I enjoyed it. Sure, garage rock did not have the lasting power that some wanted it to have, but it was a good sound for the time. Back in 2003, The Strokes released the album “Room on Fire” and — to me — this was one of the standout tracks. Enjoy:

The Boys — Season 5, Episode 3
- This was not a great episode (a running theme here).
- Homelander seemed to have a breakdown of sorts and appears more unhinged than ever. In a moment of insanity, Madelyn Stillwell appeared to Homelander in a dream sequence and he seemed to think he was being touched by an angel (yeah, just when you think this show cannot get any more absurd, they double-down on making both Homelander and Butcher caricatures of the characters they used to be).
- The biggest action and most important plot point was Homelander nearly beating Ryan to death just didn’t have the impact it should have. Every single character has lost the mojo that made them interesting at one point. Ryan angrily confront his dad — the most dangerous person in the world — and proceeded to try and get physical with him. Bad idea. Butcher found the boy gasping and beaten to a pulp.
- The Boys tracked down to Stan Edgar’ to quiz him about V-1, but The Deep, Cindy, Dogknott, and Black Noir II had the same idea at Homelander’s behest. All the while Transluscent’s son, Maverick, was also in the bunker and figured out that Hughie was one of the people who killed his dad. Maverick started to attack Hughie before Cindy accidentally blew him the hell up. Starlight dropped in to kill Cindy and then bailed on everyone. I’ll just leave it at that…this episode was a complete mess.
- It is hard to understand exactly what the show is aiming for that this point.

The Boys — Season 5, Episode 4
- The show continues to spiral downward around Homelander’s unraveling, which is a shame. Homelander’s narcissism and arrogance carried the show for so long, but to see how the character is mentally breaking apart is just weird and takes away from some of his evilness.
- The Star Wars conversation between Butcher and Ryan was really well done and had the right amount of humor. That was the highlight for me.
- The whole virus and chase to get that or V-1 is just exhausting.
- The storyline with Annie aka Starlight and her dad was odd, forced, and not written in a way that made it fit into the storyline. I’m not sure what the purpose was.
- Speaking of bad storylines, the Super Church angle to all of this is just dumb.
- Overall, another bad episode.

The original plan was to review the next two episodes of Invincible as well, but that did not happen due to a change in schedule. We will make it up!
Predictions
The lineup will be heavily rotated as Bayern Munich prepares to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, so it probably seems crazy to pick the Bavarians to win big against a team that is not…horrible. However, this Bayern Munich squad just typically finds a way to get it done, no matter who plays. In addition, there are so many injuries at the moment with young players that some of the vets will likely get pushed into action for part of the game.
Let’s stay hot…
