Atlanta already lost Tyler Goodson to the NFC East this season after the Cowboys swiped him off their practice squad. Now the Falcons are returning the favor, sort of, by poaching a practice squad player from another NFC East team.
With A.J. Terrell on injured reserve, Atlanta’s taking Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Robert Longerbeam from Philly’s practice squad and adding him to the 53 man roster. We’ll see what the corresponding move is sometime in the next 12-24 hours.
Longerbeam is unlikely to
play much in Week 3, but gives Atlanta a developmental option with some real upside. The former Rutgers cornerback was a playmaker in college who flashed real coverage skills and boasts quality physicality, but isn’t the biggest corner and missed all of the 2025 season with an injury after the Ravens drafted him in the sixth round in the 2025 NFL Draft. Baltimore risked waiving him after a quality summer and lost him to the Eagles, and now the Falcons will get a closer look at him.
The hope is that he’ll be able to contribute as a reserve sooner than later for Atlanta, which for now will roll on with a top three of C.J. Henderson, Mike Hughes, and Avieon Terrell, with Billy Bowman Jr. set to debut soon as well. It’s a very worthwhile gamble for this football team.
