VfB Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav has been quietly stating his case to be Germany’s striker for a few months now (maybe years depending on who you ask) and after a spectacular Bundesliga campaign, the 29-year-old got an opportunity to start for Julian Nagelsmann.
And man oh man, did Undav take advantage of that chance. The attacker scored two goals and one assist before leaving the game with an injury (Undav would later say it was his “butt cheek”) as Germany captured a 4-0 victory over Finland.
Yes,
Finland is not France (far from it), but it was a convincing performance from a guy who Nagelsmann essentially had labeled as an afterthought just a few months ago.
Yes, Nick Woltemade has the size, Kai Havertz has the raw talent, and Maximilian Beier has the speed, but Undav has a nose for the goal and a good chemistry with his attacking teammates.
So…is Undav the answer at striker for Germany? Tell us in the comments below!
