Adan Diggs, one of the best players in the class of 2027, has narrowed his list to four schools, and Kentucky Basketball is among them.
Diggs, the No. 6 overall senior in the country at Rivals and 247 Sports, is now down to Kentucky, USC, Arizona, and Arkansas, according to Joe Tipton
. Diggs just wrapped up a visit to Kentucky and spent time at the other schools on his list before heading to Lexington.Diggs attended Friday’s exhibition game vs. Texas Tech, and from the outside looking in, you could
imagine there were some good takeaways. He is the No. 1 combo guard in the class of 2027, so he may have kept an eye on Alex Wilkins and Mason Williams, who both scored in double figures against the Red Raiders and had many highlight plays in the 76-65 win for Mark Pope and his team.
The 6-foot-4 combo guard from Millennium (AZ) brings two-way ability, using his 6-foot-7 wingspan to its fullest. Diggs is coming off a run in the EYBL, averaging 18.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks per contest. He plays more of an off-ball role but is an extremely versatile offensive weapon.
The one downside reported about Diggs is that he could certainly be more efficient overall, shooting 40% at the rim, 33% from 3-point range, and 77% at the free-throw line.
Joe Tipton of On3 also reported that Diggs is targeting a mid-November commitment, so this could be a recruitment nearing a decision within the next couple of weeks, which seems like good timing for Pope and his staff.
Diggs is a West Coast kid, so there’s a realistic scenario where he stays home with Arizona or stays out west and heads to USC. In fact, Jamie Shaw recently said Arizona is currently the school gaining momentum in this recruitment.
“Arizona continues to be the school I hear mentioned most often by sources,” Shaw wrote.
So, for now, it looks like Mark Pope and his staff will have an uphill climb to win this recruitment, but they’ve still got time to change things.
