Arizona football laid down some style points Saturday in a 39-3 win over Iowa State. The way in which Arizona beat the Cyclones likely led some Associated Press poll voters to add or move up the Wildcats on their ballots.
Arizona is ranked No. 22 in this week’s poll, up three spots from a week ago. The Wildcats enter a top-25 matchup against Texas Tech, which dropped five spots to No. 13 after losing at Cincinnati. Kickoff for the Texas Tech game is 9 a.m. MST and the game will be televised on ESPN.
Arizona received 400 points in this week’s poll, up from 136 last week. Arizona was only ranked by about half of voters in last week’s poll, but that changed after the Wildcats responded to their new ranking with a dominant Homecoming victory over Iowa State.
Arizona leaped frogged Missouri in this week’s poll, while two teams that were ranked last week fell out of the poll entirely (Iowa and USC).
Utah is now the Big 12’s highest ranked team at No. 6. BYU, who beat Arizona earlier in the season, fell from No. 2 to No. 8 after losing at UCF. Houston dropped four spots to No. 18 after falling to Utah.
