The diamond sports at Nebraska keep rolling along. The softball team swept Minnesota and sits on top of the Big Ten standings and at #4 in the national RPI rankings. The baseball team shook up their starting rotation and only walked off the #12 team in the country three consecutive games for a sweep of their own. The men sit at #14 RPI on D1baseball’s site but still at #17 in the NCAA site (which did not factor in Sunday’s game when I checked.)
To make the weekend even sweeter, the Husker volleyball
team beat the Creighton Bluejays 3-1.

Huskers complete historic comeback vs the Trojans
Entering the 8th inning, the Huskers found themselves trailing 7-2. Josh Overbeek hit a 3 run home run, cutting the deficit to two. Then, in the bottom of the ninth they were able to string together two more runs to send the game to extra’s.

Track & Field: Johansson, Moyan throw school record marks
In the final event of the day, Axelina Johansson threw an outdoor school record mark of 19.62m (64-4 ½) with her final shot put throw of the meet. The indoor national champion now holds the facility record and the best mark in the NCAA this season. For an outdoor personal record, Cade Moran threw 20.21m (66-3 ¾) for the fourth-best mark in outdoor school history for men’s shot put.
