Arizona volleyball typically has several in-state players on its roster. That will be the case again in 2028 after the commitment of libero/defensive specialist Reagan Burgle on Wednesday. She becomes the Wildcats’ second 2028 commit. Both are from the state of Arizona.
“It’s an honor to be able to wear a Wildcat jersey and play in front of my hometown crowd!” Burgle wrote in her commitment announcement on Instagram.
Burgle has a lot of ties to the Arizona program. She is preparing for her junior year
at Salpointe Catholic in Tucson. The Lancers are the defending 4A state champions, winning the title under the guidance of Keith Rubio. Rubio is the former associate head coach at New Mexico State and the brother of retired Arizona head coach Dave Rubio.
The ties don’t stop there. Burgle plays club ball for Zona Volleyball Club where former UA assistant coach Matt Dyck is the club director.
The 2025 championship was the fourth state title in Salpointe’s history and the first since 2020. Burgle had a huge impact in the title match against Arizona Leadership Academy – Queen Creek. She had 28 digs, finishing off a run of four matches with at least 14 digs.
Burgle’s position is focused on passing, defense, and serving. She performs well in all three areas.
On serve receive, she has been targeted 4.7 times per set over her first two seasons in high school. She returns 93 percent of those without error, although her passer rating for those receptions is not readily available.
On defense, Burgle was good for 4.2 digs per set over her first two seasons.
Burgle may play a position that doesn’t attack, but it doesn’t mean she can’t score. She has 64 aces in 137 sets played during her first two years at Salpointe. That works out to 0.5 aces per set and an ace percentage of 14 percent. She has a 90.8 percent serve efficiency, committing 42 service errors in 456 attempts.
Burgle is ranked as the No. 40 player in the state of Arizona according to Prep Dig.
Burgle’s highlights can be found on her YouTube channel.
While Arizona has had several players from the Phoenix area, those from Tucson are less common. Burgle will be the first since Lauren Rumel joined out of Catalina Foothills in 2022. The middle blocker/pin hitter played one year at Arizona before transferring to Oregon State and having a strong career with the Beavers.
