The SEC announced that the Texas Longhorns’ next matchup, taking on the Kentucky Wildcats, will take place under the lights at 6:00 PM Central, broadcast on ESPN.
The Longhorns have never made the trek to Lexington
in their two matchups against the Wildcats. Last year, Texas hosted Kentucky, blasting them 31-14 and was in command the whole time. The only other game between the two took place in 1951, with the Longhorns coming away with a 7-6 victory.
The Wildcats are currently 2-3 on the year, including back-to-back three-touchdown losses at the hands of South Carolina and Georgia. However, Kentucky is coming off a bye week, as embattled head coach Mark Stoops tries to right the ship and get himself off the hot seat. Their only wins on the year came against two G5 opponents, a 24-16 season-opener against Toledo and a Week 3 blowout of Eastern Michigan.
Texas, coming off a massive win over rival Oklahoma, has a chance to climb out of the cellar both nationally and in the conference after high preseason hopes. The Longhorns have no margin of error as they finish out the regular season, as they head into their third of four weeks away from Austin to open up conference play.
