Xavi Espart is officially the new No. 12 at Barcelona after being promoted to the first-team squad for the 2026-27 season.
The youngster impressed manager Hansi Flick in pre-season and then shone against Elche in Barcelona’s first game of the new campaign. It’s therefore no surprise to see confirmation now that he is part of the senior squad for the new season.
Espart takes over the No. 12 shirt which has been vacant for a little while now and has been happy to show off his new jersey on social media.
Hector Fort wore the 12 in the Gamper Trophy but now looks to be heading out of Barcelona to join Real Sociedad. Other previous owners of the shirt include Martin Braithwaite, Riqui Puig, Rafinha and Gio van Bronckhorst.
Espart is in the squad for tonight’s game against Athletic Club at Camp Nou and will hope to feature again for Flick’s side in their first home game of the season.
