Stefon Diggs’ comeback from a torn ACL has been nothing short of remarkable, but his 2025 season has not been without its challenges either. Besides recovering from a major knee injury, the New England
Patriots wide receiver also had to deal with chest and ankle issues during the regular season.
He also suffered a broken finger at some point, as he revealed on Wednesday.
Talking to reporters at his Gillette Stadium locker, Diggs dropped the nugget during an answer about quarterback Drake Maye’s ability to throw touch passes.
“I talk to him all the time. I broke my finger a couple weeks ago, so I was just telling him, ‘Hey, I love the way you throw the ball. I really appreciate it,’” Diggs said. “He has the ability to put that touch on the ball and make it really easy to catch. I appreciate that.”
When asked a follow-up about the injury, the 31-year-old claimed it was “something like that” and downplayed its impact.
“Don’t worry about it,” he said. “Least of my worries.”
A former member of the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills, who spent 2024 with the Houston Texans, Diggs joined the Patriots on a three-year, $63.5 million contract in March. While his offseason was spent focusing on recovering from the knee injury sustained the previous October, he has shown no limitations during his first regular season with the club.
Appearing in all 11 games so far, Diggs has been on the field for 57% of offensive snaps and is leading the team in receptions (59) and receiving yards (659); he also found the end zone three times. While he was listed as a limited practice participant on five occasions this fall, none of them were due to his ACL or indeed his finger.
“I’m thankful to be where I’m at,” he said. “It’s been a long time coming, but I think more importantly that I’m just still going right now. We’re in the thick of it. I feel like I can’t get caught up in the moment, but I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to thank God and thank my teammates. Thank everybody pushing me to where I’m at right now. But more importantly, I’m just still grinding.”
