Tottenham Hotspur loanee Luka Vušković was rumored to be on Bayern Munich’s radar before his Hamburger SV squad pulled off a shocking 2-2 draw with the Bavarians on Saturday.
He did not hurt himself with
a standout performance vs. the German Rekordmeister.
The 18-year-old bombed in on an angle from the right side and went over an unaware Alphonso Davies to knot the game at 2-2 in the second half.
Throughout the game, the youngster was flanked by inferior defenders and was consistently under duress as the Bavarians had 72% possession for the match. Vušković held his own against one of the best strikers in the world, Harry Kane, along withe quartet of Michael Olise, Luis Díaz, Lennart Karl, and Serge Gnabry.
Simply put, the kid had a freakin’ day.
“I’m enjoying every second I can play for Hamburg. Maybe my goal was a little bit lucky, but when you play one of the best teams in the world, you need a bit of luck,” Vušković said (as captured by FCBayern.com).
Vušković won 2 of 3 ground duels, 3 of 4 aerial duels, blocked 1 shot, had 7 clearances, and 9 overall defensive contributions. The Croatian also completed 78% of his passes and only lost possession seven times, while narrowly missing another goal over 90+ minutes of play.
What’s not to like? Well, Tottenham Hotspur might put a hefty price tag on the boy and that could end up being a deterrent for the cost-conscious Bavarians. The uncertain situations surrounding Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae could also play a role in whether or not the German Rekordmeister entertains taking a run at Vušković.
Should Bayern Munich nudge him higher up on their wish list for the summer?
