On today’s episode, Ryan Eichten and Leo Sun commiserate about the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 27-point loss to the Orlando Magic, the upcoming California road trip, and much more:
— The 27-point loss to the Magic on Saturday afternoon was tied for the largest loss of the season for the Wolves. It was tied with their recent loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, which also came on a weekend afternoon.
— Julius Randle’s post-All-Star Break numbers have seen a major decrease. His scoring, assists, and shooting
percentages are way down while his turnovers are up. While it’s just been eight games, the Timberwolves need Randle to return to how he played early on in the season.
— On the season, the Timberwolves are ninth in the NBA in pace of play and fourth in the past ten games, a huge increase from 25th a season ago. Playing faster was a focus for Minnesota right from training camp, and they have lived up to that, especially since the trade deadline addition of Ayo Dosunmu.
— In the past eight games, the Wolves have lost the 96 minutes that Anthony Edwards has been on the bench by 56 points.
— Rudy Gobert had a fantastic game against the Toronto Raptors, putting up 18 points, 12 rebounds, and a team-high five assists. Gobert dominated on both ends of the floor as the Wolves put together one of their more complete performances in the 115-107 victory.
— In that same game, Edwards had one of the best dunks of the season, throwing one down over RJ Barrett, sparking a Wolves run that put the game away.
— Not including the first week of the season, the Timberwolves rose into the third seed in the Western Conference for the first time in two seasons. Can they hold on to it the rest of the way?
