CMLL hosts one of their biggest women’s matches of the year in the international Grand Prix de Amazonas 2026 on October 23 from Arena Mexico. AEW is sending stars from the USA, Australia, and Guinea. Stardom, Major League Wrestling, and Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling are also getting in on the event.
The concept for the Grand Prix de Amazonas is a torneo cibernetico with Mexico against the world. Each team has eleven wrestlers.
CMLL announced participants over the past few weeks, and the final batch came
from AEW. During CMLL Reforma, Julio Cesar Rivera revealed that Megan Bayne, Harley Cameron, and Queen Aminata will be in the Grand Prix. That is a sturdy crew to represent AEW. Bayne and Cameron are both former tag team champions.
The full team for the world includes:
- Megan Bayne (USA/AEW), Harley Cameron (Australia/AEW), Queen Aminata (Guinea/AEW), Mei Seira (Japan/Stardom), Momo Watanabe (Japan/Stardom), AZM (Japan/Stardom), Miyu Amasaki (Japan/Stardom), Shotzi Blackheart (USA/MLW), Masha Slamovich (Russia/MLW), Emersyn Jayne (England/RevPro), & Alice Crowley (USA/MLP)
A couple of notes about changes on that roster. Taylor Rising was originally planned, but Scott D’Amore sent word that Rising exited MLP and will be replaced by Alice Crowley. Lady Frost is in a similar boat as previously announced for the Grand Prix. Court Bauer mentioned that Frost exited MLW, and Masha Slamovich is in her place. Try as fans might to avoid MLW spoilers, Bauer flat out mentions a new champion in this clip from a match that hasn’t yet aired on Fusion.
The Mexico team has an interesting wrinkle. CMLL announced the squad to be:
- Persephone, Zeuxis, Lluvia, La Jarochita, Olympia, Keyra, Kira, Skadi, India Sioux, Thunder Rosa, & Tessa Blanchard
The name that sticks out is Tessa Blanchard, because she is not Mexican. CMLL set the precedent earlier this year in the men’s Grand Prix when Bandido was on the world team representing AEW. Blanchard dubbed herself La Gringa Mas Mexicana as she plies her craft full time in Mexico for CMLL. This is an honorary gesture from CMLL. You can see the surprise in Blanchard’s face when the news was revealed.
