Real Madrid Castilla midfielder Jorge Cestero has garnered interest from first team manager Xabi Alonso, and is on his radar to be around the first team in training, according to a report from MARCA.
Cestero trained with the first team on Tuesday, and Alonso was watching his progress.
Alonso is not the only coach who has shown a huge interest in his development, either. Castilla coach Alvaro Arbeloa has started Cestero in six of his seven games with Castilla so far (including friendlies), and he has already
become a staple in that team, despite being just 19 years old.
People were surprised by how quickly he got promoted from the U19 team to Castilla, but Arbeloa wasn’t, and now, his vision has been proven right.
Cestero is a great talent with a lot of maturity in his game, and after Chema’s departure and a lack of depth in midfield, Cestero will be crucial for Castilla’s aspirations this season.
And who knows, he just might impress Alonso in training and get a few chances with the first team.
