Jan Virgili’s name keeps on cropping up in the rumor mill amid speculation that Barcelona could try to bring him back in the summer if they don’t land Marcus Rashford permanently.
Barcelona have first refusal on the winger and the talk is that he could be a good low-cost option for the summer transfer window.
However, a new update from Diario Sport claims that Barcelona aren’t yet fully convinced that Virgili would be a good option.
They club appreciate that he is now gaining valuable La Liga experience
but there is not a “total consensus” at the club with regards splashing out on him.
Virgili’s inconsistency is one concern, with the report highlighting how he started brightly against Barcelona when he faced them with Mallorca earlier this season but faded as the game wore on.
There are also doubts about his defensive contributions and concern about “some differences” that emerged between the player and the club after he decided to leave last summer.
Virgili has said publicly it would be hard for him to turn down Barcelona if they do come calling this summer, but at the moment it seems the Catalans aren’t yet convinced.
