As we sit in the doldrums of the offseason any bit of basketball news is big news here at Hammer and Rails. And short of a new player being added to the roster, the release of the non-conference schedule is just about the biggest thing we can have right now. So what do you know, it was released earlier today.
They did include a correction
on a subsequent tweet that just one more exhibition was planned, and not two. You can see some marquee matchups there including the exhibition game against UConn which will obviously draw a lot of eyes. Then of course there is what seems to be a nearly annual tradition of Purdue vs. Gonzaga. An additional matchup against Oakland will be a good test as they always put together a good squad and gave Purdue a hard fought game last season. Then Purdue has games against Oklahoma, Iowa State (who absolutely trounced Purdue last season) and Tennessee who Purdue always loves to play and famously beat to reach the Final Four.
Overall this non-conference schedule offers a wide variety and should give us a good idea of just what type of team Purdue will have this season after so many minutes were lost between the four seniors. So, which game are you most excited about? Is there an under the radar game you think could be a fun one? Let us know in the comments.
