Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will rematch this weekend in England and after spending much time and effort trying to thwart the initial fight from ever happening because his supposed moral values (also
saying that he wouldn’t participate in any fashion), Chris Eubank Sr would still make an appearance on fight night to take center stage under the bright lights.
While many have since criticized Eubank Sr for being a hypocrite, he says he still stands firm on his beliefs even if he will always be supportive of his son. So during a discussion with Carl Froch, George Groves and others about where he stands on this rematch and whether he believes it should be taking place again, he offered this response.
“For three years I’ve been saying that this fight shouldn’t be because the weights are wrong,” Eubank Sr said. “I’ll never be proved wrong because I’m standing on the rules. So I’ve said all that I’ve had to say, it doesn’t change. So I’m not going to go bleating on the same subject. You will see, there will be consequences. Wait. Dehydration is dangerous.
“Watch what happens…You was not in the ambulance with my son [after the first fight]. He was touch and go in the ambulance. He was touch and go and what I’m saying to you is the public don’t see that.”
Despite Eubank Sr’s position in this regard, it seems very clear that he will once again be in attendance as Froch points out that his constant media tours on the subject have only served to further promote the fight.
