How are we gonna make it the next six and a half hours for tonight’s Guardians game??
Let’s make a lineup. I think the Guardians will call up Johnathan Rodriguez to replace David Fry. Hopefully, they will get
some positive news about his recovery, but there’s no way he avoids an IL stint. So, here’s my proposed lineup:
- Kwan LF
- Schneemann CF
- Jose 3B
- Manzardo DH
- Bo C
- Kayfus 1B
- Valera RF
- Arias SS
- Rocchio 2B
Have Halpin ready to play CF late and switch Schneemann to RF or put Noel there to face a LHP if needed. I realize there are some questions about Valera’s current defensive abilities, but there are no longer any questions about Manzardo’s defensive abilities: he’s a bad first baseman. Get us someone in there who is going to get every out possible and not give the Tigers any hope. I also don’t oppose getting Rodriguez an AB against LHP if the opportunity arises.
JAKOB JUNIS FOR THE FIREMAN ROLE TONIGHT! If Tanner Bibee leaves in the 6th or 7th with runners on, bring Junis in over Matt Festa. I am not opposed to Festa pitching at all, I just want him given a clean inning to work with. Notably, Sabrowski only threw 10 pitches and Smith threw only 9. Gaddis threw 19, so he’s the only one whom I’d prefer not to see tonight.
Currently, it looks like the rain should move out about time for the game to start, so, I’d anticipate maybe a slight delay to start but then they should be able to play uninterrupted if weather patterns hold.
This is the new most important game of the season. If the Guardians can find a way to win the game tonight, they will shift all probabilities to them making this improbable comeback a reality. I cannot wait to see if and how they can do it.
