Buckle up. This story is hilarious. AAA went full telenovela to suspend Rey Mysterio. That wasn’t all. Rey was also accused of an extramarital affair with AAA matriarch Marisela Peña.
The conclusion to the three-week Heroes Inmortales special was the induction of Marisela Peña into the AAA Hall of Fame. AAA honored Marisela with a respectful montage of her importance in the company’s history.
Rey Mysterio arrived for the induction speech to speak about how Marisela treats wrestlers with respect and class. She fought for AAA and never backed down.
Marisela’s speech is when the juiciness began. Dorian Roldan interrupted his mother’s speech with urgent news that could not wait. Rey is suspended indefinitely as general manager of AAA.
Dorian explained that he filed a formal complaint with the lucha libre commission with three charges against Rey. First, Rey used his GM power to send AAA luchadores into unsafe working conditions in the USA when wrestling in NXT and WWE. Dorian pointed to the injuries suffered by Hijo del Vkingo and Mini Vikingo as evidence. Second, Rey attacked a paying fan at Ola de Calor. That fan was actually Omos, but he did buy a ticket to sit in the front row. Third, Rey abused his power at Triplemania and Heroes Inmortales to make sure Dominik Mysterio lost the AAA Mega Championship to El Grande Americano. Rey acted as the backup referee to count the pin on behalf of Grande winning gold, then Rey hit Dom with a chair in the rematch. Thus, the commission ruled that Rey is suspended as GM.
The salacious bombshell came next.
Dorian couldn’t understand why Marisela chose Rey to do the induction instead of her own son, then he put the pieces together. Rey has a lust for power. Dorian accused Rey of trying to take over AAA. On top of that, Dorian accused Rey of having an affair… with Marisela!
AAA went full telenovela with this angle, and I love it. I think most could see the suspension coming. Rey has overstepped his bounds of power on several occasions as general manager, even though, his acts were perpetrated in a babyface manner. But, adding the affair accusation was a shocking surprise. I actually laughed out loud when watching this preposterous scene unfold. All of Rey’s haters that support Dominik must feel vindicated.
